Since a lot goes into obtaining a B-1 Business Visa, it's important that you realize what exactly is involved. Make sure you know all the facts and specifications before you apply for your visa.

So who is actually eligible for a B-1 Business Visa? This visa is applicable for foreign nationals who wish to visit the US on a business trip that doesn't involve receiving a salary. If you're unsure about which visa you need, you should visit the United States Immigration Support site to find more information.

Because of the events on September 11th, 2001, foreign nationals now need to be screened and interviewed as well. During this interview, you're asked about your company, your intentions and your timeframe for travelling. This screening is done at most US Consulates and Embassies.

If you visit the US on a B-1 Business Visa, you're usually allowed to remain in the country for 6 months. It's important to realize that this is the maximum amount of time that you can stay in the country. About 88,000 foreigners arrive in the United States on a typical day. Most are welcomed at airports and borders, and most do not intend to stay in the United States. 82,000 nonimmigrant foreigners per day come to the United States as tourists, business visitors, students, and foreign workers. Another 2,200 arrivals are immigrants and refugees, persons that the United States has invited to join American society as permanent residents.
