In the United States of America, hundreds and thousands of people visit its shores every year, with many coming for holidays, to visit relatives, or just for a stopover between flights. Some of those people come to the USA to work, and some come the study.
For those coming to work and study, they must have the appropriate Visas that allow them to do so. However, with these Visas, their stay and duration time in the country is limited.
In order to make the stay in the country official, one must become a permanent resident. Becoming a permanent resident is not a simple task. It requires planning, consideration, and time for approval. The other name given to the permanent resident form is a 'green card'.
If you are successful in obtaining permanent residency, you are then entitles to all the rites and privlages that go with being a US citizen. These include:
Having a social security number
Being able to work without restriction
Being able to move freely to and from the country
Having the rights to qualify for residency benefits.
It is important to remember though that becoming a legal permanent resident is a privilege and not a rite. You are responsible to maintaining order and respect while you live within the country and you must ensure to follow and obey all laws that are in place within the country and state of residence.
It can take some time to apply for the permanent residency, therefore it is important that you lodge all forms and documentation as early as possible to make sure that you are not left waiting during the time that you need the residency status the most.
